Episode 3 (Part II): Can Canada Learn from the USA?

In part II, we get into the nitty gritty that explains whether Canada or the USA currently has a system of government that is more representative of their people’s will. For this task, we look at two key items: the respective judiciary branches and their constitutions. Irish statesman Edmund Burke (1729 - 1797) famously touted the value of any elected representative resting in the ability to accurately represent his constituents, and we see how far both the USA and Canada have come from that original standard. This dislocation from public representation can be directly traced to the constitutions and judiciary branches in both countries. Finally, we examine some key court cases which show how dislocated the people’s will has become from power. Original air date: private release only. Running time: 30 minutes 21 seconds.
