The Illusion of Choice: Woken Promises: Episode 20

After calling a snap election in 2021 due to very friendly polling numbers, Justin Trudeau couldn’t have predicted his chief opponent’s clever response. Thinking now was the time to introduce a dramatic shift in the policy of the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC), leader Erin O’Toole made a sudden appeal to Liberal/Conservative swing voters, often called “centrists”. Unfortunately, the shift in policy was so stark and so committal that it involved an upheaval of the Conservative caucus. Several 2021 candidates were pushed out, while other CPC party members were terminated or suspended for their adherence to social or fiscal conservatism. The results were a disaster, and the CPC ended up looking a lot more like the Liberal party of Canada than many Canadians were comfortable with. In this episode, we take a humorous look at the carnage, with the help of special guest Evgeni Whydontuvich Phukov, who explains the Marxist tactics used by the CPC leadership to try and gain votes.
